Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been a part of this community since 1938. This family owned and operated business was originally established as Evans Funeral Home by R.I. Evans, Sr., who along with his son, R.I. Evans, Jr., directed its growth over the years. They also provided the ambulance service for the county for many years. In 1979, Evans Funeral Home became Evans-Skipper Funeral Home, when Garland Skipper purchased the business from Mr. Evans. Mr. Skipper had been associated with the funeral home for 18 years prior to his purchasing the establishment. Around the latter part of 1991, Mr. Skipper purchased some 20+ acres on Hwy 39 South, just below the Seminole County Elementary School from Wayne and Susie Gardner. This was the location of the old Barber family home which was built in the 1920s. The home was one of the oldest in Donalsonville. Mr. Skipper sold the home and it was relocated to Iron City, GA. He then built a new establishment that opened in 1993 and has been the home of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home since that time. In April of 1999, Mr. Skipper passed away and the family owned business is now carried on by his daughter, Susan Braswell, and grandsons, Josh and Dean Burke.
