William "Bill" Murray

William R. “Bill” Murray, age 86, of Jakin, GA passed away Saturday morning, August 27, 2022 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Murray will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Springfield Baptist Church in Jakin, GA with Dr. Johnny Roberts and Rev. Mark Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Phillip Buckhalter, Phil Buckhalter, Jerry Houston, Mark Burkett, Hunter Evans, and Bubba Weeks serving as casketbearers. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church. Mr. Murray was born in Sumter County, GA on November 21, 1935 to William Wallace Murray and Eunice Mae Bass Murray. He served his country in the United States Air Force and worked in farming, cookie distribution, flea markets and rental houses. He was also a member of Springfield Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Roy Murray and his wife Kathy of Jakin, GA; his daughter, Carla Widner and her husband Ricky of Jakin, GA; He is also survived by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his parents, William Wallace Murray and Eunice Mae Bass Murray; his wife, Margie McMullen Murray; and his brother, Robert Murray.
