William "Bill" McMickle

William “Bill” Thad McMickle, Sr., age 97, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Friday afternoon, April 27, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Doug Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Walter Pierce, Rick O’Hearn, Allen Givens, Chris Hurst, Phil Clenney and Don Dekle serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all active and past deacons. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church. Mr. McMickle was born in Buena Vista, GA on September 26, 1920 to Rufus McMickle and Hannah Gooding McMickle. He was a wonderful daddy and granddaddy. He was a building contractor from 1950’s till 2008. He built the best homes in North and South Carolina. In his later years he built many martin houses for family and friends, along with lots of handy work for the church, senior center and family. It was his passion. He was of the Southern Baptist faith all his life and spent every Sunday and Wednesday there. He was a deacon and a prayer warrior. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Carol Lynne Pierce and her husband Walter of Woodlands, TX, his son, Bill McMickle, Jr. and his wife Freddie L. McMickle of Dallas, NC, his grandchildren, April Young, Julia Santini, Jessica Pierce, Thad McMickle, and Doug McMickle, his great grandchildren, Kole Young, Trinity Young, Tyler Young, Sofia Santini, Ava Santini, Jaxx Eros Pierce-Leon Guerrero, Victoria McMickle, and Joshua McMickle, his great-great grandchildren, Ava McMickle and Cooper McMickle. He is also survived by his siblings, Thelma O’Hearn and Marilyn Davis. He was thankful of all his many friends. Mr. McMickle was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Julia Genette McMickle. Arrangements have been entrusted to Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
