VINCY FERGUSON JORDAN

September 3, 1947 — June 29, 2024

GORDON

 Vincy Ferguson Jordan, age 76, of Gordon, AL, passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.  

Funeral services for Mrs. Jordan will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM CST at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Ed Ham officiating.  Interment will follow in Pilgrims Rest Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM CST at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jordan was born on September 3, 1947, to James Cortez and Vincy White Ferguson, who preceded her in death.  She grew up in Bascom, FL, and spent her adult life in Gordon, AL.  She held various positions before discovering her true passion in the medical field.  In 1983, she graduated from the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program at Wallace College.  She began her nursing career at Jackson Hospital.  Mrs. Jordan then worked at Jackson Correctional Institution as an LPN.  Later in her career, she became a correctional officer.  She then returned to the nursing field at Sunland Center from where she retired in 2009.  

Mrs. Jordan is survived by her husband of 60 years, Virgil Jordan and son Scott and his wife Jennifer all of Gordon, AL; son Jason of Tuscaloosa, AL and daughter, Kayren Basford and husband Joey of Dellwood, FL.  Two sisters also survive her, Ann Melton of Gordon, AL and Madeline Baxter of Malone, FL.  Her legacy will live on through her five grandchildren, Haylei Armstrong, Dustin (Sasha) and Dakotah (Jocelyn) Jordan, Tara Johnson (Michael) and Kristyn Enfinger (Jeremy), and great grandchildren, Albert and Eli Kersey, Kaylie Danley, Annsley and Conley Jordan, Gage West, Colt Hughes, Landon and Cash Enfinger, and Hadley Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Cortez and Vincy White Ferguson; her sister, Iris Ferguson Stockton; three infant sisters; and one infant brother.
