THOMAS FRANKLIN JOINER

August 7, 1928 — September 4, 2018

Thomas Franklin Joiner, age 90, of Iron City, GA passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 4, 2018 in Carrollton, GA. Funeral services for Mr. Joiner will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Oakview Church of God with Rev. Gary Walker, Rev. Mylan Brookins, and Rev. Jimmy Walden officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Damon Trawick, Jeffrey Trawick, Reggie Trawick, Kevin Lewis, Kenny Stewart, and Spence Stewart serving as active casketbearers.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM at the church. Mr. Joiner was born in Donalsonville, GA on August 7, 1928 to Joseph Franklin Joiner and Daisy Hartzog Joiner.  He graduated high school in 1946 and attended business college for 1 year.  Mr. Joiner served his country in the Naval Reserve for 5 years and retired from the US Postal Service after 32 ½ years of service.  He was a member of Oakview Church of God.  Mr. Joiner and his wife have travelled a good bit, driving through every state, except Hawaii and Alaska, but they have visited every state, as well as Canada and Mexico.  They especially enjoyed visiting the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Niagara Falls.  Mr. Joiner always loved riding horses and motorcycles.  He never owned a horse but he had owned 8 motorcycles and rode in the annual ride for kids out of Atlanta several times. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 69 years, Gwen Joiner of Iron City, GA; his son, Larry Joiner (Julie) of Greenville, GA; daughter, Casandra Blackmon of Newnan, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Mr. Joiner was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Franklin Joiner and Daisy Hartzog Joiner; his son, Gary Wayne Joiner; and his sisters, Dorothy Green, Myrtle Drake, Lorene Simpson, Betty Shedd, and Patricia Temples. Arrangements entrusted to Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
