Susan Dianne Smith Sullivan, age 71, of Colquitt, GA passed away Sunday evening, Sept. 18, 2022, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Colquitt United Methodist Church in Colquitt, GA with Rev. Rebecca Duke-Barton and Rev. Chris Shoemaker officiating. A graveside service for family and close friends will be held following the service at Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA with Jamie Bush, Mike Land, David Land, Tom Sullivan, Phil Sullivan, and Sam Sullivan serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Smith, US Navy and Colby Smith, US Air Force. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, Sept. 22, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Flowers honoring Dianne will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Colquitt United Methodist Church, 453 Main Street, Colquitt, GA 39837. Mrs. Sullivan was born in Donalsonville, GA on February 18, 1951, to James Charles “Bug” Smith and Eddie Merle Tye Smith. She was a 1969 graduate of Miller County High School and attended Valdosta State University. During the 30 years that she and Don lived in Birmingham, Dianne volunteered countless hours as a Girl Scout Troop leader, served on school PTO, and found much joy with the United Methodist Women: Phillips Circle through Christ Church United Methodist. She worked as the church secretary for almost a decade and was the wedding director for many ceremonies. She was known as a good friend to many and enjoyed leading craft workshops. She and Don relocated to Colquitt in early 2012 where she was an active volunteer at Colquitt United Methodist Church. She was the epitome of homemaker, wife, mother, “Dee”, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Don Sullivan of Colquitt, GA; her son, Ryan Trulock and his wife Renee of Lake Eufaula, AL; her daughter, Jayme Smith of Colquitt, GA; her stepdaughter, Dona Land and her husband Mike of Birmingham, AL; her grandchildren, Candice Bush and her husband Jamie, David Land, Ellie Smith, and Wilder Smith; and her great- grandchildren, Avery Bush, Hudson Bush, and Bennett Bush. Also surviving are her brother, Jeffrey Smith(Julie) of Colquitt, GA; her sister-in-law, Paula Smith of Hinesville, GA; her sister-in-law, Heather Smith of Colquitt, GA; her brother-in-law, Joe Sullivan of Columbus, OH; sister-in-law, Jane Tice of Huntsville, AL; brother-in-law, Tom Sullivan (Jan) of Hartford, AL; brother-in-law, Phil Sullivan (Mary Ann) of Dothan, AL; and Sam Sullivan (Sharon) of Griffin, GA; as well as numerous much-loved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Mrs. Sullivan was preceded in death by her parents, James Charles “Bug” Smith and Eddie Merle Tye Smith, as well as her brothers, Johnathan Charles Smith and Mitchell Edward Smith.
