Samuel “Sammy” Gray, Jr., age 90, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Friday evening, July 31, 2020 at Donalsonville Hospital. A memorial service at Lake Seminole Baptist Church will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Johnny Roberts and Rusty Bradley officiating. Mr. Gray was born in Dothan, AL on January 24, 1930 to Samuel Gray, Sr. and Lena Kelly Gray. He served his country in the United States Air Force before being self-employed as a mechanic. Mr. Gray was retired and a member of Lake Seminole Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, was a member of the Lake Seminole Baptist Church Men’s Brotherhood Prayer Group, and a member of the Cornerstone Sunday School Class. He was a charter member of Lake Seminole Baptist Church and held the distinction of being the oldest member of the church. Mr. Gray was also a Gideon. After his retirement, he became an avid golfer, playing most every day for 10 straight years. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary Gray of Donalsonville, GA. two sisters-in-law, Margie Murray and Bill of Jakin, GA and June Peel Gray of Tallahassee, FL; a brother-in-law, Marshall Williams of Donalsonville, GA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Gray,Sr. and Lena Kelly Gray; his brother, Charles E. Gray; and his sister, Janice Boutwell Whitehead.
