RUBY JEWELL PHILLIPS ROBERTS

Ruby Jewell Phillips Roberts, age 99, of Iron City, GA passed away Monday afternoon, March 25, 2019 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Roberts will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Merritt officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.  The services will conclude in the Chapel with a family burial service to be held afterwards with John Davis, Larry Lane, Terry Phillips, Phil Phillips, Mike Tucker, and Larry Ard serving as casketbearers.  In lieu of flowers, the family ask memorial contributions to be made in her name to New Home Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund PO Box 565 Donalsonville, GA 39845 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105. Mrs. Roberts was born in Barbour County, AL on December 21, 1919 to D.E. Phillips and Izzie Cox Phillips. She was a homemaker and a member of New Home Free Will Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Roger Roberts (Mary) of Pompano Beach, FL; her daughter, Betty Tucker of Donalsonville, GA; and her brother, Rassie Phillips (Calista). She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her parents, D.E. Phillips and Izzie Cox Phillips; her husband, Van Roberts; her daughters, Beatrice Burke and Judy Roberts; her brothers, Leslie Phillips and Harold Phillips; her sister, Nancy Cross; and her grandchildren, Renee Bailey, Marcus Roberts, and Troy Wiley.
