Ronald Coleman Bruner, age 82, of Jakin, GA, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 21, 2024, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.
Funeral services for Mr. Bruner will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Springfield Baptist Church in Jakin, GA with Rev. Mark Chapman and Dr. Johnny Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery with Jackie Frith, Owen Weeks, Jr., Clint Bruner, Brent Phillips, Grant Bruner, and Tony Bruner serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM at the church.
Mr. Bruner was born in Blakely, GA on Sept. 21, 1941, to Oscar Byron Bruner and Ruby Mae Tolar Bruner. He was a farmer, who took working the soil and planting and harvesting crops seriously. It wasn't just a job to him, farming was his calling and his way of life. Vacation to Mr. Ronald was "a day to get there, a day to be there, and a day to get back home". Mr. Ronald loved his family, as well as his church family; he was a member of Springfield Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Patsy Bruner of Jakin, GA; his sons, David Bruner and wife Kim of Blakely, GA, Kevin Bruner of Jakin, GA, and Darryl Bruner of Jakin, GA; his grandchildren, Jennifer Phillips (Brent) of Panama City Beach, FL and Clint Bruner (Brantley) of Panama City, FL; and his great grandchild, Jaxson Phillips of Panama City Beach, FL. His sister, Myrna Hinson of McRae, GA; his adopted daughter, Lisa Murphree (Ken) of Jakin, GA; his adopted son, Chad Gibson of Jakin, GA; as well as several nephews and nieces also survive.
Mr. Bruner was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Byron Bruner and Ruby Mae Tolar Bruner, and his brother, Shelton Bruner.
