Rebecca Odette Hoover Miller, age 99, of Dothan, AL and formerly of Jakin, GA passed away Tuesday evening, April 20, 2021 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Miller will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Jakin Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Springs Cemetery in Cedar Springs, GA with Jared Golden, Marcus Murdock, John Bailey, Jonathan Golden, Porter Bailey, Stacey Miller, and Jeff Miller serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at Jakin Baptist Church. Mrs. Miller was born in Blakely, GA on June 14, 1921 to Jeff and Alice Plymal Hoover. A graduate of Jakin High School, she taught music in the elementary school in Cedar Springs for about 20 years, and also offered private piano lessons. She and her husband owned and operated a general store in Cedar Springs, and she also worked in the post office in Cedar Springs and Donalsonville (retiring from the postal service with 38 years of dedicated service). A faithful member of Jakin Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and served as pianist for many years. She was also the pianist for a number of years at Beulah Baptist Church in Cedar Springs. Mrs. Miller enjoyed being a part of the adult ladies Sunday School class and enjoyed growing flowers and working in her yard. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Bill Golden, Jerry Miller and wife Betty, and Johnny Miller; her grandchildren, Nancy Bailey, Hank Josey, Jennifer Johnson, Marcus Murdock, Rebecca Marie Brown, Jared Golden, Jonathan Golden, Jeff Miller, Stacey Miller, Anita McClellan, Debbie Dillard, and Jody Jones; 21 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Alice Plymal Hoover; her husbands, Claude Golden and J.W. Miller; her siblings, Jeff Hoover, Jr., Lucy Minter, and Dorothy Laney; her daughter, Claudette Herring; her grandson, Matthew Murdock; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Kirksey. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
