PAULINE "POLLY" CHANCE BRANNON

February 9, 1936 — June 10, 2019

Pauline “Polly” Chance Brannon, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019 at the age of 83. Her visitation will be Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Donalsonville, Georgia. The funeral service will follow at the church at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Randy Thompson of the First Presbyterian Church in Tuscumbia, Alabama officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Mark Burkett, Ed King, Tracy Horne, James Moody, Dan Ponder, and David Fain serving as active casketbearers. Polly graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. in Education. While at FSU, she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. Upon graduation she served as a school teacher in Early County, GA. Polly enjoyed working alongside her husband at their family business, Western Auto. In 1980, she began a career as a State Farm Agent. She serves as one of their first female agents and received numerous awards. Pauline was a member of the First Baptist Church of Donalsonville, GA, Eastern Star and the Donalsonville Womans Club. She was also an avid reader, bridge player, golfer, hobby painter and world traveler. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, John Jackson Brannon; her parents; and 9 older siblings. Survivors include her children, Jackie Brannon Stutts (Larry), John Jackson Brannon, Jr (Pam) and Kimberly Dean Brannon; grandchildren, Elizabeth Stutts Thompson (Scott), Rebecca Stutts Hovater (Greg), Sarah Stutts Philbin (Matt), L. Collins Stutts, II, John Jackson Brannon, III and Emmaline Blair Brannon; great-grandchildren, Robert Cornell Thompson, Andrew Lee Thompson, Michael Gregory Hovater, Jr, Elizabeth Irene Hovater and Sarah Kathryn Hovater. The family would like to give special thanks to Drs. Jeff Doty and Steven Wise from Dothan Medical Associates for their specialized care through the years. Additionally the family would like to thank Polly’s dear friends Elouise Taylor and Martha Brown for their friendship. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Christian School, 1900 Covenant Drive, Tuscumbia, Alabama 35674 or to Brookwood School, 301 Cardinal Ridge Road Thomasville, GA 31792.
