Mitchell Edward “Mitch” Smith, age 64, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021 at Capital Regional in Tallahassee, FL. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper with Billy Kimbrell officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. The family is gathering at the home of his sister-in-law, Cissy Eldridge. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made in Mitch’s memory to Wounded Warriors, Bainbridge Humane Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or an organization of your choice. Mr. Smith was born in Donalsonville, GA on August 13, 1956 to James C. “Bug” Smith and Eddie Merle Tye Smith. He was self-employed as an agricultural irrigation specialist. Mr. Smith was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying bird and deer hunting and fishing. He was at his happiest in the great outdoors. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Heather Bevis Smith of Donalsonville, GA; his son, Chief Petty Officer US Navy Jonathan Mitchell Smith and wife Brianna of Guam; his grandchildren, Rian Smith, Jameson MITCHELL Smith, Brantley Smith, Vevolyn Smith, and one on the way; his sister, Dianne Sullivan and husband Don of Colquitt, GA; his brother, Jeff Smith and wife Paula of Colquitt, GA; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Terry and Rennie Faye Bevis of Colquitt, GA; his brother-in-law, Jeffrey Bevis and his wife Cindy of Colquitt, GA; his sister-in-law, Cissy Eldridge of Colquitt, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, James C. “Bug” Smith and Eddie Merle Tye Smith and a brother, Jonathan C. Smith.
