Sidney Max Kelley, age 81, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away Thursday evening, June 27, 2024, at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Kelley will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Corey Thomas and Dr. Calvin Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Wayne Newsome, Glen Barton, Greg Gaughan, Ricky Langley, Johnny Franklin, and Wayne Franklin serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Kelley to the charity of your choice.
Mr. Kelley was born in Dothan, AL on Nov. 23, 1942, to Bruton Franklin Kelley and Ruby Mae White Kelley. He worked for many years as an auctioneer, mainly in the livestock market, the last being Dothan Livestock. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, and he still enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves play. Mr. Kelley was a member of Union Baptist Church, where he was the active treasurer.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Jenell Franklin Kelley; nephews and nieces, Jamey Kelley and his wife Debbie, Dennis O'Hearn and his wife Debbie, and Debra Roberts and her husband W.C.; 7 great nephews and nieces; and numerous great great and great great great nephews and nieces. Also surviving is his faithful companion, Baby Girl.
Mr. Kelley was preceded in death by his parents, Bruton and Ruby Kelley; his brother, James Ellis "Bunk" Kelley; his niece, Deanna Kirkland; his nephew-in-law, Andy Sharpe; and his great nephew, Michael Rusgrove.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Georgia Hospice Care for the wonderful and loving care that Mr. Kelley was given.
