MARY PATRICIA HUNTER

December 24, 1939 — November 18, 2018

Mary Patricia Poitivient Hunter, age 78, of Iron City, GA passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018 at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, GA.Funeral services for Mrs. Hunter will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Gable and Rev. James Miller officiating.  Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Stevie Hunter, Terry Phillips, William Youmans, Marcus King, Bruce Covington, and Tim Ray serving as active casketbearers.  Honorary casketbearers will be Fred Baker, John D. Miller, John Emory Trawick, and Jimmy Hardy.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.  Mrs. Hunter was born in Iron City, GA on December 24, 1939 to Thomas Alec Poitivient and Etta Lucille Miller Poitivient.  She was a time study analyst at Amoco Fabrics and Fibers before retiring and becoming a full time homemaker.  Mrs. Hunter was a member of New Enterprise Freewill Baptist Church and loved to fish and cook for others.  She loved being with her family and serving as the #1 babysitter for Eden and Ella. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, J.H. Hunter of Iron City, GA; her children, Janice Strawser of Iron City, GA and Tommy Hunter and wife Sandy of Donalsonville, GA; as well as her brothers, James Willis Poitivient and wife Donna of Mt. Holly, New Jersey and Edward Poitivient and wife Marsha of Bainbridge, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Vic Hunter and wife Kati, Colby Hunter, and Leslie Strawser and her great grandchildren, Eden and Ella Hunter.Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Alec Poitivient and Etta Lucille Miller Poitivient, and three siblings, J.B. Poitivient, Claudia Yawn, and Addie Childree.
