MARY ETHEL GOODSON MATOTT

Mary Ethel Goodson Matott, age 70, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Monday evening, Nov. 28, 2022, at her residence. A Celebration of Life and visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs. Matott was born in Pavo, GA on Feb. 23, 1952, to Claude Goodson and Dorothy Hires Goodson. She graduated from nursing school and gave of herself to help others. She loved family get togethers and the way she loved everyone with all of her heart was enough to brighten the darkest day. Mary had a great love for greenhouse gardening and raising chickens. A mother and so much more, she loved so much what life has to offer, gardening, music (especially Tom Petty and Willie Nelson), traveling, family and friends. Mary loved sunsets; golf cart rides; and her two little girls, Becca and Snopie, our little shih tzus. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Francis Matott; her children, Tracy Hodge, Lisa Hodge, and Steven Hodge; her stepchildren, Joshua Matott and Anne and Dustin Matott and Erica; her sister, Nancy Pigeon and Frank; and her brother, Deryl Gadd and Laura Tew. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and loving friends. Mrs. Matott was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Dorothy Hires Goodson and her baby, Christopher Lee Davis.
