MARY ALICE WHITAKER

Mary Alice Whitaker, age 88, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.

Funeral services for Mrs. Whitaker will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Oakview Church of God with Rev. Johnny Taylor, Rev. Mylan Brookins, and Rev. John Nunes officiating.  Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery with Blake Townsend, Brett Townsend, Johnny Wilson, Dylan Smith, Spencer Stewart, and Blake Ingram serving as active pallbearers.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the church.  

Mrs. Whitaker was born in Donalsonville, GA on May 18, 1937, to Lewis Jeremiah Hicks and Lomie Glisson Hicks.  She was a graduate of Seminole County High School and completed two years of college.  Mrs. Whitaker was a secretary for the Seminole County DFACS office for a number of years before her retirement.  She was an active member of Oakview Church of God and loved her grandchildren, family, and church family immensely.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Beth Townsend and her husband Larry of Eufaula, AL, Angel Wilson and her husband Johnny of Newville, AL, and Ashlee Middleton and her husband Gene of Blakely, GA; her grandchildren, Brett Townsend and his fiancee Tara Ryals, Blake Townsend and his wife Lindsay, Brittany Ingram and her husband Blake, and Dylan Smith and his fiancee Shanna Kelly.  Also surviving are nieces Beverly Carr and husband Mike of Donalsonville, GA and Becki Jeffcoat of Albany, GA; and a special sister-in-law, Becky Breckenridge of Donalsonville, GA.

Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Jeremiah Hicks and Lomie Glisson Hicks; her first husband and the father of her children, Coy Medley, as well as her husband, James Whitaker.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Keith Medley and her siblings, Doris Helms, Ilene McGowan, and Thomas Hicks.
