WAYNE THOMPSON

Marvin Wayne Thompson, age 74, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Sunday evening, October 29, 2023, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.

A memorial visitation service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.  Please come and visit with the family and share your memories of Mr. Wayne with them. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Seminole County Warpath on Cancer 200 W. 10^th Street, Donalsonville, GA 39845.

Mr. Thompson was born in Donalsonville, GA on August 12, 1949, to Rufus and Cleo Anglin Thompson.  He graduated from Seminole County High School in 1967.  After graduating, he left his family’s farm in Seminole County to reside in Southwest Florida for 35 years where he pursued various business ventures and started a family.  A natural undeterred and dynamic entrepreneur his entire life, he owned or managed multiple businesses from auto-body repair, home contracting, electrical supplies, concrete utility poles, a restaurant, vacation rentals, and real estate.  In 2001, he moved back home to Seminole County where he started Seminole Pole, Inc., which is still owned and operated by his family.  His pastimes included operating anything with an engine, from motorcycles to classic cars, airboats to excavators.  He was happiest when building a concept of his own design or clearing land to plant seeds for grass or trees.  He was always on-the-move and was never without a new plan for a project.  His three grandchildren were his pride and joy, along with his wife of 53 years Marsha, his daughter Nicole, and her husband Blaine, whom he loved like his own son.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years, Marsha Thompson; his daughter, Nicole Touchton and her husband Blaine; and his three grandchildren, Arabella Touchton, Lyndon Touchton, and Ellison Touchton, all of Donalsonville, GA.  Also surviving are his siblings, Aaron Thompson and wife Theresa of Fleming Island, FL, Evelyn Lee of Jacksonville, FL, Tommy Thompson and wife Karen of Riverview, FL, Raymond Thompson of Donalsonville, GA, Diane DuPriest and husband Sol of Donalsonville, GA, and Rex Thompson and wife Nancy of Donalsonville, GA; his sister-in-law, Linda Thompson of Jacksonville, FL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Cleo Anglin Thompson; his brother, Edward Thompson and his wife Darlene; his brother, Wallace Thompson; his brother-in-law, Roy Lee; and his sister-in-law, Wanda Thompson.
