MARTHA GARWOOD SPOONER

Martha Garwood Spooner, age 96, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away Monday afternoon, November 11, 2024, at her residence.

 Funeral services for Mrs. Spooner will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Donalsonville with Rev. Michael Herrin officiating. A private family graveside services with burial will be held at Friendship Cemetery on Tuesday. No public visitation will be held, however, the family is receiving friends at Mrs. Spooner’s home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to the charity of your choice.

 Mrs. Spooner was born in Donalsonville, GA on August 2, 1928, to G.B. Garwood and Birdie Mae Saunders Garwood. She was a high school graduate and homemaker. Mrs. Spooner was a life long member of First Presbyterian Church of Donalsonville.

 She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Luke Spooner and wife Debbie of Donalsonville, GA, Gary Spooner and wife Jill of Auburn, AL, Wade Spooner and wife Lauren of Donalsonville, GA, and Nancy Spooner of Steamboat Springs, CO; 14 grandchildren; and 45 great grandchildren.

 Mrs. Spooner was preceded in death by her parents, G.B. and Birdie Mae Saunders Garwood, as well as her husband of 67 years, Luther Spooner.
