Martha Jane Goocher Ford died peacefully in her home in Evans, Georgia on January 18, 2022 after a short illness and surrounded by her family. A service to celebrate her life will be held at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville, GA on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Nate Lehman officiating. Interment will be held at Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the church. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain social distancing of six feet and/or wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines. She was born in Miller County, Georgia on July 19, 1942 to the late Idus and Lessie Arnett Goocher. She was a cherished and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Martha loved gardening and working on her beautiful flowers in her yard, visiting with friends, playing games and putting puzzles together and reading. She was a strong woman of faith with a quiet and gentle spirit. She had a gift of cooking and enjoyed sharing meals with family, friends and neighbors. Martha raised 4 children and worked at Merchants & Farmers Bank. Martha is survived by her 3 daughters, Wanda Caye Nelson and husband David of Evans, GA; Kimberly Powers and husband Tommy of North Augusta, SC; Linda Heussner and husband Todd of Evans, GA; grandchildren, Nic, Mia, Lawson, Addison, Emma, Henderson and Jeb; her sister, Sara Goocher Davis; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Rex Edward Ford and one son, John Kevin Ford.
