Pat Shoemaker

Marie Patricia “Pat” Spooner Shoemaker, age 81, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, September 28, 2024, at her home in Donalsonville.

 Funeral services for Mrs. Shoemaker will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Friendship Methodist Church Donalsonville with visitation at 10:00 AM before services, with Pastor Nate Lehman officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Friendship Cemetery with Colin Shoemaker, Chuck Spooner, Melvin Fox, Stan Kennedy, Kevin Neise, and Ron Browning serving as active pallbearers.

 Pat was born on November 6, 1942, in Decatur County, GA, to Joseph Colquitt “Carl” Spooner and Marie Estelle Ridlehoover Spooner. She attended Valdosta State University and later was a teacher at Seminole County Elementary School. Pat was passionate about her community and heritage, and she was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) serving as president of the Bainbridge Chapter. She was also a member of the Donalsonville Junior Women’s Club and a member of the Friendship Methodist Church. Pat cherished family time and delighted in traveling the world visiting with loved ones.

 She is survived by her loving husband of many years, Larry Shoemaker, of Donalsonville, GA, and her children, Joseph Brian Shoemaker and wife Natalie of Brisbane, Australia, and Chad Hughes Shoemaker and wife LaKrecia of Lakeland, FL. She also leaves behind her brothers, Charles Spooner and wife Deborah of Jacksonville, FL, and Leonard “Skip” Spooner of Greenville, SC. Pat’s grandchildren, Emma Shoemaker and Matthew Shoemaker of Brisbane, Australia, Colin Shoemaker and wife Breanna of Lakeland, and Kaitlyn Marie Shoemaker of St. Augustine, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will forever hold her in their hearts. 

 Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Colquitt “Carl” Spooner and Marie Estelle Ridlehoover Spooner.

 Her life was filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family, friends, and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
