Janice Marie Perry Pedler, age 74, passed away peacefully on Sept. 23, 2018 in the care of Big Bend Hospice. Janice fought a courageous battle against uterine cancer that was just diagnosed in 2012 with a recurrence of omentum cancer in 2014 and colon cancer in 2017. She stayed positive throughout. Janice Pedler, a longtime resident of Tallahassee, Florida was born in Bainbridge, Georgia September 28, 1943. She lived in Donalsonville, Georgia and Dothan, Alabama before moving to Tallahassee, Florida in 1957. She graduated from Leon High School in 1962. Shortly after graduation she attended Jones Business College in Jacksonville, Florida. She returned to Tallahassee to marry her husband Robert Howard Pedler in 1963. Janice worked for the State of Florida Department of Tourism, and for Florida State University Accounting Department. In 1974, Bob and Janice purchased Masons Curiosity Shop on Gaines Street (the Warehouse) and in 1983 the opened Pedler’s Antique Mall until closing it in 1997. They also owned and operated Carriage Manor Mobile Home Park from 1990 until 2005. In 2004, she and her husband Bob explored the United States and Canade in a motor home until 2012. She did the driving (over 50,000 miles) and Bob navigated until Bob’s Parkinson’s prevented additional trips. We would like to thank everyone who shared in Janice’s care at Shands, Moffitt, TMH Cancer Center, Home Instead, Big Bend Hospice, family and friends, all of you who kept in touch the last few years and gave her strength. Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted to her family and extended family. She touched everyone she came into contact with in a special way and made many great memories. She made the world a better and brighter place. She was a true earth angel. Janice was known for her big heart, generosity of spirit, her selflessness, love for all creatures and kindness to others. Janice became a passionate advocate for those living well with Parkinson’s Disease after Bob was diagnosed with the disease in 2001. Her proudest accomplishment was becoming involved in the local Parkinson’s group. She was VP 2011 and 2012 then became President in 2013, 2014 and 2015. She helped raise money to fulfill her dream of opening an office here in Tallahassee that provides free information and activities to people living with Parkinson’s and their caregivers. Janice is preceded in death by her husband Robert Howard Pedler of 53 years and her parents A.J. and Lillian Palmer. She is survived by her son Stefan Howard Pedler (Kristen), her daughter Frances Elizabeth Christopher (Jimmy), 4 grandchildren, Anna Marie Pedler Christopher, Kali Nicole Christopher, Dillinger Clash Pedler, and Thorin Stefan Pedler. She is also survived by a sister, Charlotte Maxey (Richard) and brothers, Riley Palmer (Diane), Morris Palmer (Teri), cousins, Beverly Johnson, Diane Spindler, Jimmie Hammitt, and Vann Brackin along with other nieces, nephews, cousins, and Lenora Wiggins, a lifetime friend. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 3720 Capital Circle, S.E., Tallahassee, Florida 32311. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the Gathering Hall in the church. Family will receive friends at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home, 909 South Tennille Avenue, Donalsonville, Georgia, 39845, from 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 29, 2018 with the service to follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel. Interment will be held at Friendship Cemetery 906 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Donalsonville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Outreach Association, P.O.
