James Wiley (Buddy) Mote, Jr., age 66, of Iron City, GA passed away Friday afternoon, Feb. 19, 2021 at Donalsonville Hospital ER. Funeral services for Mr. Mote will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Deborah Jackson, James Wiley Mote III, Phil Davis, Andy Spooner, Laura Mote, and Charity Baity serving as active pallbearers. Alan Thornton will serve as honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be held at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM. Due to the ongoing concerns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, masks are to be worn and social distancing practiced. Mr. Mote was born on April 26, 1954 in Bainbridge, GA to James Wiley Mote, Sr. and Gladys Smith Mote. He was a diesel mechanic for Greene Poultry for 25 years and a member of Unity Church of God. Mr. Mote loved to fish, color, and tinker. He was a big prankster and enjoyed spending time with his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Geneen Mote of Iron City, GA; his children, Deborah Jackson and husband Ronnie of MacClenny, FL, James Wiley Mote III of Iron City, GA, Charity Baity of Jacksonville, FL, Buddy Dewayne Mote of Valdosta, GA, Laura Mote of Nebraska, and Brandy Mote of Pensacola, FL; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Valorie Kay Kelley and husband Oscar of Geneva, AL, and Janey Mote of Cairo, GA. Mr. Mote was preceded in death by his parents, James Wiley Mote, Sr. and Gladys Smith Mote Murkerson; his brother, Jim Murkerson; and his son, Joseph Leo Mote.
