HIRAM SMITH

Hiram Smith, age 80, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away Monday afternoon, Dec. 16, 2024, at Donalsonville Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Donalsonville Church of God, with Rev. Larry Daughtry officiating.  Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with grandsons, Kalom Smith, Seth Atkinson, Nick Mock, Dakota Mock, Dylan Smith, Chase Smith, Kade Smith, and Logan Jones serving as active pallbearers.  Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 noon - 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Mr. Smith was born in Blakely, GA on February 14, 1944, to Clifford Walter Smith and Lillie Mae Herring Smith.  He graduated from Lowen Jacobs Engineering Trade School as a draftsman.  Mr. Smith worked in the propane gas industry for 40 years before retiring, during which time he managed Empire Gas Company.  During his lifetime, he served in ministry as an assistant pastor and evangelist, as well as working in the children's church ministry.  He loved visiting with and talking with others, and this along with spending time with his family was the way he enjoyed life to the fullest.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Charlotte Roberts Smith of Donalsonville, GA; his children, Melissa Atkinson of Donalsonville, GA, Bubba Smith and Debra of Iron City, GA, Angelia Richter and Brad of Bristol, FL, and Scott Smith and Cara of Donalsonville, GA; his half-sisters, Lena Garton, Dianna Campbell, and Karrisha Casteel all of Texas and Linda Houston of Donalsonville, GA; and his half-brother, Walt Smith of Texax.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kalom Smith and Ashley Hope, Heather Thomas and Trey, Seth Atkinson and Kristin, Brittany Ingram and Blake, Nick Mock and Bethany, Dylan Smith and Shanna, Dakota Mock and Sidney, Bailey Walden and Randall, Morgan Plair and Tyler Griner, Chase Smith and Reesanne Gentry, and Kade Smith and Chevy; as well as 23 great grandchildren.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Walter Smith and Lillie Mae Herring Smith Hunter; a granddaughter, Savannah Smith; and a son-in-law, Calvin Atkinson, Jr.
