HAZEL TURVIN LANE

Hazel Turvin Lane, age 93, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, February 28, 2023, at Pine Shadows Manor in Sylvester, GA. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Lane will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Jimmy Walden.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Corinth Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Iron City, GA. 

Mrs. Lane was born on September 15, 1929, in Elba, AL to Jesse and Annie Adams Turvin.  Her family moved to Iron City, GA in 1943.  She graduated from Seminole County High School in 1946 and started work as a Postal Clerk in Iron City in March 1951.  In December 1979, she became the Postmaster until her retirement in May 1985.  She was a member of the Iron City Ladies Club, the Red Hats, and served on the Iron City School Reunion Committee.  Mrs. Lane enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She spent many hours working in her yard and caring for her many flowers. 

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Saunders and her husband Doug of Sylvester, GA; her grandson, John Saunders of Albany, GA; her great-grandchildren, Candler Saunders of Eastman, GA, Keagan Saunders and Kolson Saunders of Albany, GA; her sister, Helen Camp of Leesburg, GA; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Annie Adams Turvin, and her husband of 56 years, Pryor L. Lane.
