GARLAND KENT ALFORD

Mr. Garland Kent Alford, age 79, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Tuesday evening, December 27, 2022, at Donalsonville Hospital. Graveside services for Mr. Alford will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 2:00 PM CST (3:00 PM EST) at Reese Baptist Church Cemtery in Samson, AL with Rev. Joe Johnson officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service with Destin McCormick, Josh Karrigan, Gordon Wilson, Tony Spivey, Justin Clopton, and Bo Peters serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning, Dec. 31, 2022, at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM EST. Mr. Alford was born in Geneva County, AL on January 18, 1943 to Dewey and Jewell Bodiford Alford. He was a well driller and mobile home mover who loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Alford was a true outdoorsman, loving to fish and hunt, but his favorite pastime of all was riding motorcycles anytime he got the chance. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Ethelene Miller Alford of Donalsonville, GA; his daughters, Tammy Longfellow of Sopchoppy, FL, Sandra Steele of Tallahassee, FL, and Kimberly Vaughan and husband Jimmy of Cleveland, GA; and his sisters, Gloria Cooksey, Brenda Alford, and Charlotte Spivey and husband Dale all of Woodville, FL. His grandchildren, Heather Longfellow, Nikki Abshire, Holly McCormick, Amber Karrigan, Daniel Gilley, Shiena Sheawa, Jason Alford, and Hailie Alford; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Jewell Bodiford Alford; his brothers, Claude Alford, Bobby Alford, and A.D. Alford; his sister, Helen Reildler; his son, Jeffery Kent Alford; his granddaughter, Ashley Marie Alford; and his great great granddaughter, Grace.
