DOROTHY JEAN O'HEARN GIVENS

March 1, 1936 — November 16, 2022

Dorothy Jean O’Hearn Givens of Donalsonville, GA passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 16, 2022, in Marianna, FL at the home of her daughter. Funeral services for Mrs. Givens will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Walden and Rev. Kenneth Kicklighter officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakview Church of God Cemetery with Ashley Rykard, Adam Rykard, Hudson Givens, Landon Givens, Dennis O’Hearn, and Ricky Hayslip serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Givens was born in Miller County, GA on March 1, 1936 to Clifford and Lucille Stephens O’Hearn, one of ten children. She was a graduate of Miller County High School and married David Givens July 9, 1954. Mrs. Givens was a homemaker and retired from the Miller County Board of Education as a bus driver after 33 years. In addition to her daily bus route, she drove for the football and baseball teams being known affectionately as “Ma”. Mrs. Givens was a member of South Mt. Zion Church of God. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Becky McAllister and husband Ronnie of Marianna, FL, Wanda Rykard of Iron City, GA, Allen Givens and wife Lola of Donalsonville, GA, and Andy Givens and wife Andrea of Donalsonville, GA; six grandchildren, Ashley Rykard and wife Shona, Adam Rykard and wife Haley, Chelsea Simms and husband Trenton, Lacey O’Neal, Hudson Givens, and Landon Givens; and three great grandchildren, Blake Rykard, Kenzlie Simms, and Hattie Rykard. Also surviving are her brother, Gene O’Hearn and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Givens was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Lucille O’Hearn; her husband of 58 years, David Givens; three sisters, Eunice O’Hearn, Deloris Broxton, and Lucy Robinson; five brothers, Broughton O’Hearn, Ralph O’Hearn, Calvin O’Hearn, Bill O’Hearn, and C.M. O’Hearn, Jr.; as well as her son-in-law, Roger Rykard. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to her loving sitters, Annie Wright, Brenda Mitchell, and Linda Warren; as well as to Covenant Care Hospice.
