DORIS LAVERNE MCMICKLE

Doris Laverne Walton McMickle, age 91, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away Sunday afternoon, Dec. 29, 2024, in Groveland, FL at the home of her daughter.

Funeral services for Mrs. McMickle will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in New Salem Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Ronnie Welch, Tommy Hudson, Ron McMickle, Sean McMickle, Corey McMickle, and Jacob Wildes serving as active pallbearers.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. McMickle was born on Sept. 28, 1933, in Baxley, GA, to Robert Lee and Irene Collins Walton.  She was a homemaker, but could be found out in the fields working alongside her husband, Cary McMickle.  Mrs. McMickle loved her family and spending time with them; however, some of her happiest and enjoyable times were had working in her yards and taking care of her flowers and plants.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Ronnie McMickle and his wife Alice of Donalsonville, GA; her daughter, Nancy Ford of Groveland, FL; and her grandchildren, Ron McMickle and wife Rachel, Anna Laura Craft and husband Wendell, Sean McMickle and wife Christy, Beth Cannon and husband Seth, Corey McMickle, Jacob Wildes and wife Bridget, Hannah Ripley and husband Joseph, Rebekah Hamm and husband Rhett, and Crystal Ford. Also surviving are seventeen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; as well as one sister, Frankie Broxton of Lakeland, FL; and two brothers, Robert Walton of Gulf Breeze, FL and Sammy Walton and wife Connie of Alma, GA.

Mrs. McMickle was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Irene Collins Walton; her husband, Cary McMickle; two daughters, Susan Darlene McMickle and Patsy Wildes; two sisters, Mary Caraway and Martha O'Hearn; and two brothers, Johnny Walton and JW Walton.
