Debbie Hawkins Brookins, age 60, of Monroe, GA passed away Saturday evening, April 24, 2021 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Brookins will be held on Thursday morning, April 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Oakview Church of God with Rev. Mylan Brookins and Rev. Gary Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Damon Trawick, Anthony Brookins, Phillip Spooner, Jay Hawkins, Mitch Hawkins, and Mark Hawkins serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, April 28, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs. Brookins was born on September 30, 1960 in Donalsonville, GA to Walton Jackson Hawkins and Mary Ola Bush Hawkins. She was a 1978 honor graduate of Seminole County High School, a talented pianist and organist, as well as a wonderful pastor’s wife. Mrs. Brookins had been employed with the Seminole County Board of Education, the Worth County Board of Education, and was currently working with the Morgan County Board of Education. Debbie loved her role as a pastor’s wife and found great pleasure in serving others alongside of Mylan. She had served in all areas of the church. Debbie was affectionately known as “Nonna” to her grandchildren, who were the lights of her life. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 41 years, Rev. Mylan Brookins of Monroe, GA; her children, Matthew Brookins and his wife Whitney of Calhoun, GA and Kristin Brookins Worsley and her husband Ryan of Naperville, IL; her mother-in-law, Claudette Brookins of Hiawassee, GA; and her sister, Glenda Howard and her husband Dick of Jakin, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Myles Worsley, Ryder Worsley, Adleigh Worsely, Ava Worsely, and Emmaline Brookins, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brookins was preceded in death by her parents, Walton Jackson Hawkins and Mary Ola Bush Hawkins and her sister, Charlotte Roberts. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
