DAVID HANNA MURKISON

David H. Murkison, age 78, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Saturday evening, January 11, 2020 at Bainbridge Health and Rehab. Funeral services for Mr. Murkison will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Reynolds Chapel United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Tammy Fincannon officiating.  Interment will follow in Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Steve Shores, Ward Eubanks, Stan Varnon, Brett Fain, David Powell, Phil Brackin, and Stevie Enfinger serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be All Men of Reynolds Chapel United Methodist Church, Lowell Johnson, Ray McIntosh, Edward Whittaker, and David Faircloth. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at Reynolds Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. David Hanna Murkison was born in Donalsonville (Fairchild Community) Seminole County, Georgia, on September 25, 1941 to Jeff and Ollie Mae Shores Murkison. Mr. Murkison was a retired farmer of 39 years in Seminole County. He was also a retired Registered Duroc Hog Farm Producer in which he was a member of the Duroc Hog Swine Registry. In his younger school years, he was a member of Georgia 4-H, and FFA where he also showed Swine and Cattle. In his younger years he loved Dove hunting and the outdoors. He was also an excellent Marksman. One of his biggest hobbies of all in his golden years was gardening and working in his yards. But most of all in his spare time when he was not farming, you could find him resting, watching Braves baseball, Georgia Bulldogs Football or putting in more dedicated hours at Church. Mr. Murkison was a member of Reynolds Chapel United Methodist Church where he held many committee positions over the years, with the most important position of serving as Church Treasurer for 30 years. He loved his family very much, as well as his Church, and always put God First. Mr. Murkison is survived by his siblings; Gene (Marilyn) Murkison of Statesboro, GA, Elizabeth and Faye Murkison Grice both of Donalsonville, GA; his nieces and nephews; Jeffery (Susan) Grice of Donalsonville, GA; Jennifer Murkison of Atlanta, GA; Gina Grice (Ricky) Alday of Donalsonville, GA; James “Jim” (Elisabeth) Murkison of Pacific Grove, CA; David (Ellen) Murkison of Decatur, GA; and Anne Grice of Donalsonville, GA; his great nieces and nephews; Cassidy Grice of Burleson, TX; Sammy and Kellee Alday of Donalsonville, GA; Ben and Brian Murkison of Decatur, GA; Lillian, Evelyn “Evie”, and Lucy Murkison all of Pacific Grove, CA; and Landon Smith of Donalsonville, GA; one great great niece, Avery Grice of Burleson, TX. Mr. Murkison was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Ollie Mae Shores Murkison and one brother-in-law, Garland Grice. Arrangements entrusted with Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
