CHARLES LEE DEKLE

November 5, 1930 — August 25, 2020

Charles Lee (CL) Dekle, age 89, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Aug 25, 2020, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home, with family at his bedside. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Jakin Baptist Church in Jakin, GA. CL was born Wednesday, November 5, 1930 in Coolidge Georgia where he and his family lived during his early years, prior to moving to Thomasville Georgia. He joined the US Army November 17, 1948, and was stationed in Japan. He served in the Korean War from December 1, 1951 - June 14, 1955, achieving the rank of Sergeant 1st class. Cl received the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, United States Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Prior to discharge he was stationed at Camp Kilmer New Jersey, where he met, and married Shirley Elaine Bunting on October 9, 1954. They had two children; Charles Lee Dekle Jr. and Cynthia Louise Dekle (Richards). CL worked for CV Hill Refrigeration from 1956, until he retired 1996, he also worked part time jobs as an auto mechanic. After raising their children he and Shirley remained in Ewing, New Jersey, until Shirley’s death on July 11, 2015. CL attended Central Baptist Church in New Jersey. Due to failing health CL returned to Georgia in 2016, to live with his loving daughter and son-in-law Thomas in Donalsonville. He enjoyed attending Jakin Baptist Church with his daughter when he was able. Toward the end of his life he was cared for by the kind gentle hands of VNA, the staff of Seminole Manor Nursing Home and Integrity Hospice. Survivors include his son, Charles Lee Dekle, Jr., daughter Cynthia L. Richards (Thomas), brother James Dekle Jr., sister Thelma Blow, Brother Waymon Dekle (Carolyn), sister Lois Anderson (Melvin), brother William Dekle (Donna) several nieces, nephews and cousins, and his grand puppies Indy and Georgia. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601 Arrangements have been entrusted to Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
