Caryl Dutton Knight

Caryl Dutton Knight of Albany passed away peacefully at her home on September 4, 2022. The graveside service will be held at 3 pm, Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Friendship Cemetery (906 MLK Jr Dr). The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm at Evans – Skipper Funeral Home (909 S. Tennille Ave) in Donalsonville, GA. Caryl was the daughter of Thomas Leroy and Lucille Spooner Dutton and was born in Donalsonville, GA on November 16, 1941. Through her mother she was related to numerous early settlers of Seminole and surrounding counties. Caryl was the middle child of 5 siblings. She was a 1959 graduate of Seminole County High School. After graduation, she moved to Atlanta to begin her business career. She was valued for her intelligence, dependability and loyalty. She worked in California for 10 years, afterward, she began a 26 year tenure at Georgia Pacific and traveled worldwide with the company. After retirement, Caryl moved to Albany in 2018 to be near family. Her entire adult life was dedicated to loving and providing for her son, David. Her other interests were working in her yard and caring for her beloved dog, Sadie. She was a Christian and attended First Baptist Church of Albany. She is survived by her son, Nathaniel David Knight; her brother, Robert Michael Dutton, two sisters, Mary Dutton Durham and Rose Dutton Duncan, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was known by many as Aunt Caryl. The family would like to thank Tisha Jackson, Joy Pilcher and the amazing sitters that cared for and loved her “as if she was their own” through her lengthy 2 ½ year battle with cancer.
