CARLTON EUGENE SKIPPER

Carlton Eugene Skipper, age 83, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Skipper will be held on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Rinks and Rev. John Crisp officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery with Alton Harrison, Steve Griffin, Keith Bowen, Mark Hawkins, Larry Reynolds and Larry Widner serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, Dec. 10, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Rocky Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund 1288 Hwy 39N Donalsonville, GA 39845 or to Seminole County Warpath on Cancer 200 W. 10th St. Donalsonville, GA 39845. Mr. Skipper was born in Miller County on July 27, 1937 to Buster Emerson “Buck” Skipper and Kathleen Hutchins Skipper. He served his country in the Army National Guard for 6 years and then owned and operated his own construction business. Mr. Skipper was more of a craftsman than a contractor; if it was made of wood, he could do it. His mark of craftsmanship has been left in many places in the tri-state area. Not only was he an accomplished builder, he was also known for his ability to write songs and to sing, having founded and led the Rocky Ridge Quartet for more than 50 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 157 in Donalsonville. Mr. Skipper was an active member of Rocky Ridge Baptist Church where over the years he had served as Sunday School teacher, song leader and deacon. He loved the Lord and serving Him was the desire of his heart. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 63 years, Fay Skipper of Donalsonville, GA; his children, Richard Skipper of Glen Saint Mary, FL and Pam Bullock and her husband Bruce of Donalsonville, GA; his sister, Margaret Butler of Conyers, GA; his brothers, Emerson Skipper and his wife Diane and Ronnie Skipper all of Donalsonville, GA; and his sister-in-law, Edwina Skipper of Iron City, GA. Mr. Skipper is also survived by his grandchildren, Shay Chapman and her husband Lee, Sarah Benefield and her husband Enoch, and Ethan Bullock and his wife Samantha; his great grandchildren, Hannah Beth Chapman, Brooke Chapman, Emilee Chapman, Grayson Benefield, Lexi Hudson, Zack Hudson, Belle Bullock, Cheyenne Bullock, and Brandon Bullock; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Skipper was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Kathleen Skipper; his brother, Garland Skipper; his daughter, Angie Hudson; his daughter-in-law, Peggy Skipper; and two grandsons, Benjamin Bullock and Allen Hudson.
