Mrs. Mims was born on July 18, 1944, in Geneva County, AL to Carl and Bernice Cheshire. On Monday, September 26, 2022 she entered the gates of heaven to meet family and friends who went before her. Cooking, crafting, love of family and friends and service to others were her top priorities. A meal wasn’t just a meal, it was a masterpiece with all the trimmings. Crafting wasn’t a hobby, it was an expression of her love and willingness to share her talents with others. Sharing with others brought her an abundance of joy. Anyone who knew Betty, better known as Nanny, felt her love and joy from the second they met her. Betty was committed to serving her church and community. She loved Trinity Crossroads Church and shared her faith with everyone. Seminole County Warpath on Cancer had a special meaning to her since many family, friends, and even she was affected by cancer. The epitome of a “Southern Lady”, Betty was the grandma you always needed, the sister you wish you had and the friend who was always there. Her faith, family and friends were her true treasures. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 54 years, Willard Mims; her children, Angie Burke, Greg Mims and wife Stephanie, and Clent Mims and wife Geeja; her six grandchildren, Justin Burke (Hannah), Will Mims, Carlee Groomes (Ty), Katibeth Wise (Tyler), Rand Mims, and Klaire Mims; and her two great-grandchildren, Nicole Groomes and Duke Burke. She is also survived by two sisters, Jean Ellen Spears and Freida Welch (James); as well as two sisters-in-law, Joyce Wetherbee and husband Roland and Barbara Stewart and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mims was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bernice Cheshire; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Dora Mims; her sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Rudolph Kierce; her brother-in-law, Jimmy Spears; and her son-in-law, Brad Burke.
