ANNIE LOU LYNN ATKINSON

Annie Lou Lynn Atkinson, age 95, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Friday afternoon, Nov. 15, 2024, at her residence.

Graveside services for Mrs. Atkinson will be held on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 17, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Lynn Family Cemetery at Hammock Springs Freewill Baptist Church.  Interment will immediately follow the service with Roger Atkinson, Jr., Johnny Atkinson, BJ Atkinson, Will Atkinson, Denver Davis, and Jonathan Atkinson serving as active pallbearers.  The family will receive friends at Mrs. Atkinson's home with visitation being on Sunday, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at her home, prior to the 3:00 PM service.  In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Georgia Hospice Care Carnation Foundation 187 N. Church St. Suite 201 Spartanburg, SC 29306.

Mrs. Atkinson was born in Seminole County, GA, on Feb. 13, 1929, to James B. and Nettie Chambers Lynn.  She worked at Donny Mills as a seamstress and supervisor, then retired to take care of her family and grandchildren as a homemaker.  Spending time with her family, especially all of the grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren was of the utmost importance and enjoyment to her.  She loved to talk and visit and she could and would strike up a conversation with anyone she met.  Mrs. Atkinson was a Mama Bear that looked after all of her "cubs".

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Benny Atkinson and Roger Atkinson and his wife Elise; her sister, Maxine Roberts; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Atkinson, Pam Miller, and Shirley Lynn; as well as 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 19 great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Atkinson was preceded in death by her parents, James B. and Nettie Chambers Lynn; her husband, Walter C. Atkinson, Jr.; her sister, Juanita Varnum; her brothers, Montague Lynn and Reuben Lynn; her son, Calvin Atkinson, Sr.; and her grandson, Calvin Atkinson, Jr.; as well as a daughter-in-law, Pat Atkinson.
