ANNIE CLIFFORD CLAYTON CANINGTON

September 23, 1923 — February 25, 2018

Annie Clifford Clayton Canington, age 94, of Iron City, GA passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home.   Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Canington will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Dr. Raymond Guterman and Rev. James Scarborough officiating.  Interment will immediately follow the service with Brett Guterman, Clifton Guterman, Dr. Beau Cannington, Pierce Cannington, Augie Clayton, and King Clayton serving as active pallbearers.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Seminole County Public Library 103 W. 4th St. Donalsonville, GA 39845.   Mrs. Canington was born on September 23, 1923 in Reynoldsville, GA to Edmund Alphonzo Clayton, Sr. and Bessie King Clayton.  She retired from Donalsonville Hospital where she had worked for a number of years in bookkeeping.  Mrs. Canington was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, The Lib Bridges/Agnes Moseley Circle and served on the committee that produced the church’s cookbook.  She enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of the Bridge Club here in the community.  Mrs. Canington loved to read, fish, and travel; however, nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family and friends.   She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Kaye Guterman (Edgar M. Guterman) and Royce Cannington (Sheryl Cannington) all of Iron City, GA; her grandchildren, Brett Guterman of Iron City, GA, Clifton Guterman (Chad Gough) of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Beau Cannington (Dr. Erin Cannington) of Albany, GA, and Pierce Cannington (Emily Cannington) of Pensacola, FL; her great grandchildren, Cole Cannington, Caroline Cannington, Evie Cannington, and Mary Clark Cannington; as well as her caregiver, Robbie Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.   Mrs. Canington was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund Alphonzo Clayton, Sr. and Bessie King Clayton; her husband, Royce Marlin Canington, Sr; her siblings, Mytle Logue and husband Aaron, Custer Clayton and wife Joan, Al Clayton, and Norene Harrison and husband Avin.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
