Amanda Michell Lord Van Atta, age 41, of Jakin, GA passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital ER. Funeral services for Mrs. Van Atta will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Jay Winkler officiating. Interment will follow at Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery with Randall Ellis, Ethan Ellis, Rodney Brookins, Jr., James DuPriest III, John Robinson II, and Jason Lord serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Van Atta was born Feb. 29, 1980 in Donalsonville, GA to Michael and Susan DuPriest Lord. She was a 1998 graduate of Early County High School and received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Wallace College in 2002. She was employed as an RN with Kaiser Permanente. Mrs. Van Atta was of the Baptist faith. Amanda greatly enjoyed painting, spending time at the beach, going to concerts and plays, learning to sew, and most of all, she loved cuddling with her children. She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Jimmy and Susan Brookins of Jakin, GA; her paternal grandparents, Donald and Mavis Brookins of Colquitt, GA; her children, Mary Abigail Van Atta, Patrick Van Atta, and Lucy Van Atta all of Jakin, GA; her brother, Christopher Brookins and his wife Lauren of Blakely, GA; her sister, Tiffany Miller and her husband Joshua of Bainbridge, GA; and her niece, Alexandra Brookins of Blakely, GA. Mrs. Van Atta was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, James and Arlene DuPriest, as well as her husband, Peter Van Atta. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
