We regret to announce the passing of Mr. James Towns, age 68, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away, Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Donalsonville Hospital. A memorial service will be held Monday, November 1, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Father Rudy Breunig officiating. You may sign the guest register and share your thoughts with the family by visiting our website at www.evansskipperfh.com. Mr. Towns was born in Douglas, GA to the late Vester and Myrtle Lott Towns. He was a member of the Catholic Church, and a retired American General Insurance Agent. Most of his life he spent doing what he loved best, which was being with the ones he held dearest, gardening and of course, his music. He spent most of his younger years singing and playing the bass with his bands. Even when he worked hard to support his family, he would still find the time to continue his music. While he was singing and playing on stage, with his loving children always there watching, he was one of the happiest people on earth. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend and he gave them his undying loyalty and devotion. He was a devout catholic and nothing meant more to him than to have the entire family, sisters, brother, mom, dad, children, wife and many nieces and nephews all gathered together. Though he worked hard his entire life and didn’t have much to show for it, he still felt like one of the richest men in the world. He is survived by his wife, Bette Towns of Donalsonville, GA; one son, Rob Towns and his wife Rachel of Pensacola, FL; two daughters, Elicia Blackburn and her husband Ryan of Donalsonville, GA; Nicole Harmon and her husband Ryan of Bella Vista, AR; one brother, Paul Towns and his wife Hanna of Bainbridge, GA; two sisters, Ann Murawski and her husband Jerry of Bainbridge, GA; Jeanne Norton and her husband Mickey of Donalsonville, GA; numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Morgan Davis, Kayleigh Harmon, Addison Towns, Logan Towns, Wyatt Blackburn and Bella Towns. He was preceded in death by his parents Vester and Myrtle Lott Towns. Evans-Skipper Funeral is in charge of the arrangements.
