RADFORD JONES

February 7, 1925 — June 4, 2010

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Radford Jones, age 85, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. James Scarborough and Rev. Malcom Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA with military honors. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, June 6, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper in Donalsonville, GA Mr. Jones was born in Houston County, AL on February 7, 1925 to the late R. B. and Erah Newton Jones. He served our nation in the Military during World War II in the Philippines and in Japan. Rev. Jones was ordained by the Georgia Council of the Assemblies of God in 1984 and pastored a number of churches in Georgia and Alabama during his many years in ministry. Included among them in Georgia are First Assembly of God in Colquitt where he pastored for 30 years, Liberty Assembly of God in Blakely, and Pleasant Hill Assembly of God in Donalsonville. In Alabama he pastored Antioch Assembly of God, Frith Hill Assembly of God and Tumbleton Assembly of God. In addition to his pastoral work, he also served on the Georgia District of the Assemblies of God Presbytery Board. He will also be remembered as working on outboard motors at City Marine in Donalsonville, GA He is survived by his wife, Nell Jones; a son, Lamar Jones and his wife Marian; two daughters, Martha Odom and Linda Hodges and her husband Phil all of Donalsonville, GA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Joel Jones, Jason Jones, Sharon Varnum, Tracy Odom, Shawn Odom, Kristi Albritton, David Hodges; as well as and eleven great grandchildren, Robert Jones, Christopher Jones, Laura Jones, Lynsey Jones, Bradley Varnum, Brandon Varnum, Eve Varnum, Lane Odom, Carson Odom, Eliza Odom, Christian Albritton and Mattie Grace Hodges. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.B. and Erah Newton Jones; brothers, Gloomer Jones, Robert Jones, Eulis Jones,James Jones, Wyatt Jones; sisters, Lois Strickland and Ettis Mae Wood. Active casketbearers will be Joel, Jones, Jason Jones, Shawn Odom, Tracy Odom, David Hodges and Bradley Varnum. Honorary casketbearers will be Marty Shingler, Ted Shingler, William Arden Parker, Noah Black, Edward Deal and Fletcher Sheffield. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
