MABEL CROSS SHIVER

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Mabel Wylene Cross Shiver, age 59, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Friday, May 7, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Shiver will be held on Monday, May 10, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Flat Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Sells and Rev. Robert Johns officiating. Interment will follow in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, May 9, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Flat Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Shiver was born in Donalsonville, GA on April 12, 1951 to the late Jiley Mack Cross, Sr. and the late Christine Smith Cross. She was a member of the Miller County High School Class of 1969 where she was a star basketball player. She was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church and a homemaker. Sewing and gardening were two of her favorite pastimes. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Ronnie Joe Shiver of Donalsonville, GA; a son, Les Shiver of Donalsonville, GA; a daughter, Carla Foster and her husband Tom of Donalsonville, GA; three brothers, Louie Cross, Buddy Cross and his wife Pat, and Robin Cross all of Donalsonville, GA, as well as a special brother, Brad Helms, also of Donalsonville; three sisters, Faye Rutledge, Sara Cook and her husband Roger, and Jackie Alday and her husband Melvin all of Donalsonville, GA; as well as a special friend, Jan Anderson, of Donalsonville, GA. Mrs. Shiver is also survived by her grandchildren, who were the center of her world, Jacob Porter, Nicholas Porter, Luke Foster, Jade Porter, and Allison Porter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jiley Mack Cross, Sr. and Christine Smith Cross; a brother, J.M. Cross, and a niece, Jill Cook. Active casketbearers will be Ray Peterson, Lavon Chandler, Edward Whittaker, Joe Wilson, Lanny Williams, and Ricky Smith.
