MARY DOWNING

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Mary Helon Herndon Downing, age 80, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Eric Boomer officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM. Mrs. Downing was born in Madison, FL on November 4, 1929 to the late Melvin and Nettie Alice Wainwright Herndon. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, a homemaker and enjoyed fishing. She is survived by one son, Bobby and Peggy Downing of Donalsonville, GA; three grandchildren Chad and Mandy Downing of Dothan, AL; Brad and Erin Downing of Jackson, GA; Blake and Ashley Downing of Donalsonville, GA. She is also survived by two great grandchildren Brantley Downing and Barrett Downing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Nettie Alice Wainwright Herndon; her husband, Cleon Downing, and two brothers, Leonard Herndon and Howard Herndon. Active casketbearers will be Chad Downing, Brad Downing, Blake Downing, Randy Herndon, Ryan Brittain and Jerry Herndon. Honorary casketbearers will be Richard Hunter, Jerry Gray, Kitt Hunter and Kyle Hunter. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
