We regret to announce the passing of Wilbur Etheridge Murphy, age 95, of Jakin, GA who passsed away on Monday, August 28, 2006 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville, GA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at 11:00 AM at Jakin Baptist Church in Jakin, Ga with Dr. Calvin Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the Jakin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mr. Murphy was born in Laurens County , GA on June 22, 1911 to the late Charlie Walter Murphy and Vienna Abbott Murphy. He was a retired boilermaker and a member of Jakin Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Carrie Estelle Murphy of Jakin, GA; son, Charles and Frankie Murphy of Brunswick, GA; daughter, Shelby and Edward Gale, Sr. of Jakin, GA; bothers, Edward D. Murphy and Andrew and Leigh Murphy; sister, Blanche Connors and sister-in-law Nora Murphy. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Blake Gale, Tommy Spooner, Ronnie Welch, Rudolph Reese, Victor Cannon and Casey Cannon.
