JANICE KIRKLAND PHILLIPS

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Janice Phillips, age 77, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at her residence. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 2:00 PM at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Eric Boomer and Bobby Sinquefield officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held Friday, April 2, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs. Phillips was born in Headland, AL on January 27, 1933 to the late Robert Benjamin and Rosa L. Burkett Kirkland. She was a faithful member of First Church of the Nazarene where she had served on the Church Board, as the Missionary President, and a Sunday School teacher. She had worked as a cashier at the IGA and Piggly Wiggly before working in the family service station business. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Beverly Phillips of Donalsonville, GA and a son, Bruce Phillips and his wife Sharon of Donalsonville, GA; one sister, Jewette Duke and her husband Jimmie J. Duke of Valley, AL; and a brother, Robert B. Kirkland, Jr and his wife Doris of Riverview, FL. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Lindsey Gorrin and her husband Joseph of Belle Chasse, LA, Lori Temples and her husband Johnnie of Bainbridge, GA, and Chris Phillips of Gainesville, GA; as well as one great grandchild, Landon Temples. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosa L. Burkett Kirkland and Robert Benjamin Kirkland; her husband C.B. Phillips; a sister, Joyce Y. Jarrett; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Jarrett. Active casketbearers will be Jimmie J. Duke, Jr., Gordon M. Duke, Sr., Randy Phillips, Dennis L. Jarrett, Charles R. Adams, and Ronnie D. Adams. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Lucy Thomas P.O.
