We regret to announce the passing of Thomas Jackson Bryant, age 78, of Jakin, Ga who passed away at his residence on August 17, 2006. Funeral services for Mr. Bryant will held on Monday, August 21, 2006, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Dr. Calvin Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the Jakin Cemetery. Visitation will held from 4:30-6:30 PM on Sunday , August 20, 2006 at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Bryant was born on May 17, 1928 in Early County, Ga to the late Neves Bryant and Estelle Sullivans Bryant. He owned and operated a septic tank business in the local area. Mr. Bryant lived in the Jacksonville, FL area for many years and retired from the Jacksonville Electric Authority. He was a past President of the Sundowners Saddle Club, founder and President of the Lazy J Saddle Club, an avid coon hunter and fisherman. After his retirement in FL, he moved back to Jakin, GA where he was a member of Jakin Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Virginia Long Bryant; son Thomas Bryant, Jr. and his wife Pat of Glen St. Mary, FL, step-son David Long and his wife Georgia of Greenville, MS; two daughters , Vicki H. Phillips of Albany, GA and Janise B. Jones of Gordon, AL, step-daughter Patricia A. Ellis and her husband Danny of Greenville, MS; two brothers, Neves Bryant, Jr. of Virginia and Joe Bryant of St. Augustine, FL and one sister, Carol Black of Fayetteville, NC. Seven grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Nell Woolard Bryant, daughter, Leah Elaine Beal and a brother, Donald W. Bryant. Pallbearers will be Erik Phillips, Brian Beal, Robert Allen Jones, Adam Beal, Aaron Beal and Buddy Worsley Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
