We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Lillian S. Rodgers, age 92, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Donalsonville Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Rodgers will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kirk Loyless, Rev. James Scarborough and Dr. Gary Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, GA Visitation will be held Monday, February 1, 2010 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs. Rodgers was born in Hendersonville, TN on October 3, 1917 to the late Sam and Nellie Cantrell Womack. She attended Howard Grove Freewill Baptist Church and retired after 30 years as Post Master with the U. S. Postal Service; past president and current member of Post Master Association of Florida; past president of Freewill Baptist Church Association of Florida, past president of PTO; past president of State Women’s Auxiliary of Florida; 1969 rural carrier of the year for State of Florida; won trip to Grand Ole Opry by writing a poem when in school. She wrote a book, Moments To Remember. A member of Donalsonville Garden Club; also taught Sunday School for 55 years. She was a good cook and caterer. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Rodney Rodgers and Ron Rodgers both of Donalsonville, GA; a step son, Jimmy Rodgers and his wife Effie of Dothan, AL; a step grandson, Darrien Rodgers of Dothan, AL and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Nellie Cantrell Womack. Active casketbearers will be Billy Coy Williams , Earnest Ponder , Lewis Carter, Jr., David Barfield, Ken Regan and Ron Foskey. Honorary casketbearers will be members of the Donalsonville Garden Club. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
