We regret to announce the passing of Mildred C. "Granny" Cobb, age 90, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Thursday, July 6, 2006 at St. Marys Hospital in Athens, GA. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 10, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Kirk Loyless and Rev. David Tart officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 9, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Granny Cobb was born in Pansey, AL on July 26, 1915 to the late Walter Marcus and Callie Jeffcoat Croom. She married Byron Carson Cobb, who preceded her in death, while she was attending Martha Berry College. She was a devoted mother and homemaker who helped on the farm, operating machinery or whatever was needed. Her hobbies were sewing, cooking, camping, fishing, gardening and a variety of farm projects. She was active in the Methodist Church, the Woman's Society, Sunday School and other church activities, and the Home Demonstration Club. She worked with Boy Scout Troup 711, going on camping trips with them and always helping with the cooking; she was a cast member of Cornerstone , produced by the Seminole Arts Council. She gave selflessly to her community and felt enriched by her association with youth in the church and school and mission work to Jamacia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Haiti. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Bobbie Jean McKeller and her husband Billy of Athens, GA; two sons, Lamar Cobb and his wife Joan of Donalsonville, GA and Harry Cobb and his wife, Phyllis of Brooklet, GA; one sister Peggy Wainright of Alexandria, LA and a very dear sister-in-law Rosemary Croom. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, and one daughter, Amelia Ann Cobb preceded her in death. Pallbearers will be Mark McKeller, Michael McKeller, Eric Cobb, Jamie Cobb, Jimmy Cobb, Byron Cobb and Mark Earnest. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
