We regret to announce the passing of Betty Davis Shingler, age 81, of Atlanta who passed away Monday, July 3, 2006 in Atlanta, GA after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 11:00 AM at St. Berks Episcopal Church, 2601 Henderson Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30345. Interment of the ashes will be Sunday July 9, 2006 at 4:30 PM at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA. Mrs. Davis was born August 10, 1924 in Montgomery, AL, the youngest daughter of Robert V. and Cora F. Davis; she grew up in Atlanta, graduating from Girls High School. She attended Wesleyan College and graduated from Agnes Scott College. She was married for almost 53 years to Angus J. "Bob" Shingler who preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Julie S. Dunaway and her husband Judge Roger W. of Thomson, GA; two sons, George P. Shingler and his wife Lois D. and Robert D. Shingler both of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 6th Floor, New York, NY 10001. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the local arrangements.
