We regret to announce the passing of Mr. James Grady "Bud" Powell, age 87, of Iron City, GA who passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services for Mr. Powell will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Herman Enfinger and Rev. James Scarborough officiating. Interment will be held at Corinth Freewill Baptist Church cemetery in Iron City, GA. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mr. Powell was born in Houston County, AL on May 16, 1922 to the late Lonnie Jackson and Julie Florence Doswell Powell. He attended New Harvest Worship Center and was a retired mechanic and truck driver. He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Edward Powell of Iron City, GA; two daughters, Betty Sue Mathis of Colquitt, GA and Linda Preston and her husband Dave of Laurel Hill, FL; a brother, Arthur Powell and his wife Irell of Dothan, AL; and three sisters, Mavis Calhoun of Dothan, AL, Evelyn Cobb and her husband Roy of Dothan, AL, and Sue Travis of Mobile, AL. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kerry Aultman and her husband James, Shiryl Bullock and her husband Robert, Rob Mathis and his wife Jennifer, and Lisa Burkett and her husband Scotty; and six great grandchildren, Jonathon Aultman, Cody Aultman, Brendon Aultman, Davis Bullock, Jenna Mathis, and Matt Burkett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Jackson and Julie Florence Doswell Powell; his wife, Vernell Powell; a sister, Elizabeth Powell; and three brothers, Mack Powell, Fernnie Powell, and Robert Earl Powell. Active casketbearers will be Gary Cunningham Robert Bullock, Marlon James ,Lanny Williams, Kevin Enfinger and Jimmy Hardy. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
