Mrs. Elizabeth Ivey Grantham, 87, a resident of Great Gran's Personal Care Home died in the Donalsonville Hospital ER on Wednesday, January 6, 2010. Preliminary arrangements were handled by Evans-Skipper Funeral Home where she was transferred to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus, GA for final arrangements and burial. Rev. John Boyer officiated the service in the Chapel at the Mortuary on Saturday, January 9, 2010. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Bradley Grantham, Bryan Grantham, Michael Grantham, Thomas Grantham, Wesley Carroll and Scott McGlaun. Mrs. Grantham was born June 30, 1922 in Columbus, GA to the late Henry Curtis and Susie Elizabeth Ellison Ivey. She was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder. She was also a member of Chattahoochee Valley BPW where she held numerous offices in the club. She was Co-Owner of Grantham & Son Nursery and Grantham Commercial Realty for over 52 years and was also a licensed real estate agent. Mrs. Grantham was preceded in death by her first husband, Lt. John Wilbur McDougal who was killed in France during WWII. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Lawton E. Grantham, Sr. in 1988. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Billy McDougal Grantham and wife Becky of Donalsonville, GA, Lawton E. Grantham, Jr. and wife Alice of Columbus, GA, Curtis Ivey Grantham of Springville, AL, and Paul Azor Grantham of Columbus, GA; one daughter and son-in-law Cheryl Grantham Carroll and husband Jim of Pine Mountain, GA; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one cousin, Linda Ivey Legallais.
