Walter C. Atkinson, Jr.

We regret to announce the passing of Walter C. Atkinson, Jr., age 83, of Donalsonville who passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at his residence. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 30, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Lynn Family Cemetery on the Hebrew Road with Rev. Charles Barineau officiating. Friends and family are welcome at their home at 3238 Walter C. Atkinson Rd. at any time. Mr. Atkinson was born in Clay County, GA on May 14, 1923 to the late Walter C., Sr. and Emma Kate Free Atkinson. He served his country in the US Army, was a farmer and a retired school bus driver. He is survived by his wife, Annie Lou Atkinson of Donalsonville; three sons, Calvin E. Atkinson and his wife Beth; Roger D. Atkinson and his wife Elise both of Donalsonville; and Walter "Benny" Atkinson and his wife Pat of Bethpage,TN. One brother, Luther T. Atkinson of Peachtree City, GA and two sisters, Nancy Jones and Pam Miller bother of Donalsonville, GA. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Baby Chris, Anna Laura Atkinson, Bessie Kate Barber and Virginia Ridlehoover and one brother, Larry Atkinson. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Calvin Atkinson, Jr., Roger Atkinson, Jr., Johnny Atkinson, B. J. Atkinson, Will Atkinson and Colby Atkinson. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
