MARCELL JOSEPH SHEFFIELD

Marcell Joseph Sheffield, age 78, of Iron City, GA passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services for Mr. Sheffield will be held on Tuesday morning, February 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with speakers being Rebecca (Becky) White, Terry Bevis, Brad Hornsby, and Rev. Wayne Sheffield. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Amos Sheffield, Andrew Sheffield, Troy Sheffield, Stacy Sheffield, Kyle Sheffield, and Drew Sheffield serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, Feb. 19, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Sheffield was born in Colquitt, GA on April 9, 1939 to Ed Sheffield and Vera Daniels Sheffield. He retired from GA Pacific where he worked as a maintenance mechanic. He served his country in the United States Navy and enjoyed football, fishing, and being with his family (especially the grandkids). He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Alison Sheffield (Casey McCurry) of Athens, GA and Derek Sheffield of Athens, GA; his brothers, Bobby Sheffield (Brenda) of Colquitt, GA, Rev. Wayne Sheffield (Shirley) of Colquitt, GA, and Lamar Sheffield (Janet) of Conyers, GA; his sister, Myra S. Buddin of Pensacola, FL; as well as his grandchildren, Ansley Sheffield, Logan Sheffield, Mara Bastow, Sheffield Bastow, and Ari Bastow. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Sheffield was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Vera Daniels Sheffield; his wife, Veronica “Bonnie” Spradlin Sheffield; and his brothers, Roy Sheffield and Zeke Sheffield.
